Gecko Arts

Overview

Originally employed as an Art Promoter I was promoted to Assistant Curator to source UK Based Artists & organise exhibitions. My role as Assistant Curator consisted of supporting the Lead Curator and Director to make sure certain tasks and logistical operations were carried out seamlessly. I also organised the day-to-day running of the gallery including staff rotas, transport, expenses and allocating day to day tasks to my team for the upkeep of the gallery.

Throughout this role I adapted my role and took it as my responsibility to design all marketing material myself, as well as utilise my contacts in the print industry to make sure we was receiving the best quality products at the right price. With the support of the team we was able to boost our online presence and reach out to new marketplaces through social media.

During the transition of moving galleries there was a four-week period before we received access to the new premises, during this time I also had the opportunity to spend a short period working in La Coruna, Spain. Here, I worked for the Intergra part of the Leonardo Group who organised work placement opportunities throughout Europe for young adults.

The state in which the Leonardo brand identity was being portrayed was not professional. In the short time I was there, I managed to create thorough brand guidelines and applied more structure and continuity throughout. As Leonardo was a Europe wide organisation we was able to implement these strict guidelines throughout several European countries. I created set templates and layouts for documentation and created supporting materials accessible in different languages both in digital and print format. Overall improving the aesthetic and functional attributes of the organisation. Leaving a lasting professional image.
